Chelan Graduates Wants To Be Next President of USA

Will This CHS Graduate Be The Next President?

Jonathan Allen, a 1980’s graduate of Chelan High, returned to his alma mater Thursday to launch his campaign for the President of the United States. It would be safe to say that the idea stretches nearly everyone’s imagination, until they meet and hear this Colorado businesman speak.
We attended Johathan’s 2 1/2 hour presentation in Chelan’s Performing Arts Center Thurday evening, and came away with a clear understanding that he is dead serious, not off his rocker, and we were impressed with his message.

We were unable to stay and arrange for an interview - but we will. In the interim - we encourage our readers to Click Here & Explore His Web Site

Carnan Bergren Files For PUD 3rd Dist Position

Third Generation Peshastin Pear Grower, Carnan Bergren has filed for the PUD At-Large commission seat currently held by Leavenworth resident Werner Janssen. Janssen has yet to announce if he plans to seek a 2nd term, but it’s believed he will.

In a pre-announcement tour of the county last week, Bergren was very open about his decision to file for Janssen’s seat, saying that the 1st term commissioner from Leavenworth has a poor attendance record that is unfitting of the people he serves.

In his formal press release this week, Bergren gives a 30 year run down of involvement in the fruit industry on management boards and says he has the experience to represent the 43,000 Chelan County PUD Customer’s interests in their public owned utility.

Bergren describes himself as a devoted husband, father of two and 3rd generation fruit grower who has achieved a broad base of business skills and personal accomplishments over his 33 years in agriculture. He says he is confident that his vast experience in business operations and personnel management has instilled the necessary components required to successfully direct operations for the PUD.Bergren has served on the Board of Directors of Blue Bird Growers and Leavenworth Fruit Company , and has 12 years on the Washington/Oregon Canning Pear Association
(Two years as Chairman).

More recently he is finishing a 3 year term on the Peshastin Sub Area Urban Growth Boundary Task Force. He also has served 20 years on the Peshastin Cemetery Board.

Bergren is a member of the Washington State Farm Bureau and member of the Dryden Gun Club.

His press release included the following paragraph about the Chelan County PUD:

The Chelan County PUD employs some of the finest and brightest technically skilled people working in the industry . Employees and rate payers of this District deserve to have the position filled by an individual with a strong work ethic and who is purposely dedicated and willing and able to invest the time and effort needed to effectively represent the public.”  …..
Bergren added. I believe the rate payers of Chelan County deserve the best and should expect nothing less from their elected officials,.”

3rd District Chelan County Commissioner Race

As of this date (3/22/2008) we have three Republican candidates for the 3rd District Chelan County Commission seat being vacated at the end of his term by Buell Hawkins.  Good for Buell for giving early notice of his intent to not seek re-election so that good candidates could be recruited.

It didn’t take much encouragement to find 3 who want the position. That is so good.So often we find no-one wants to serve - and a single candidate runs unopposed and wins while the public loses. In the order of announcing their filing for the position we have:
